Complex Co. is a third generation civil/construction company, dedicated to delivering the technical and demanding projects that others can’t. Our expertise and core values has led to the delivery of iconic projects that define the nation. The success of our project is the result of over 60 years of generational knowledge and experience. Originally defined by name, today our team are united by a shared purpose and passion to deliver quality projects that define communities and commemorate history.

A rich 60 year history

Our roots were first set in 1958 by John Haskins, grandfather of current directors - Matthew and Lachlan Haskins. John began his journey in construction working as a surveyor on the Snowy Scheme. While staying on camp John studied a diploma in surveying via correspondence, this would form the building blocks for the rest of his career.

John went on to form a successful civil engineering company, helping to shape infrastructure in the ACT and surrounding retirement, John has been active in the industry. He is a life member regions as we know it today. Throughout his career and into inductee to The Master Builders of Australia after serving on the board as a director and president for over 9 years, and served as the President of The Confederation of International Contractors Association, representing the Asia Pacific region. In recognition, he has received an Order of Australia for his contribution to the construction industry.

John’s legacy continued through to his son; Mark Haskins, who established the foundations for Complex in 1996 with business partner Peter Hawkins.

Initially providing design and commissioning of temporary works systems for bridges and concrete structures on major projects throughout Australia and South-East Asia, the business expanded and began operations as a civil construction contractor, focusing on bridgeworks and technical civil works. From 2004, the current directors - Lachlan and Matthew Haskins entered the business, working from the ground up to build experience and establish their own path in the industry.

Following acquisition of the business in 2019, Complex is now in the hands of Lachlan and Matthew Haskins to continue the legacy.
