Construction of cutoff drain and batter stabilisation to increase drainage capacity and batter stability at Cooleman Ridge Nature Reserve. Works included increasing the capacity of an existing cutoff drain and stabilising batters using gabion baskets, stone pitching and native vegetation. A culvert crossing and spillway was constructed along the alignment of the cutoff drain to allow vehicle access. The culvert crossing utilised precast culvert units installed on a cast in situ base. PD1 handrails were erected at the culvert deck as fall protection.
The location of works was in a heavily utilised section of track at the reserve, requiring management of plant, pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists throughout construction. All works were completed in the expected timeframe despite several inclement weather events. No safety or environmental incidents occurred on site and the client provided extremely positive feedback on the works.
