Project Overview

The purpose of the Menindee Drive Link Path Works was to complete a missing link in the Lake Burley Griffin Circuit shared path adjacent to Menindee Drive, Barton, through a combination of new construction works and augmentation of existing path infrastructure to meet current standards for a main community route.

Construction featured a new 500m long, 3m wide asphalt shared path starting on the north-western side of Menindee Drive, connecting to an existing path to the west. Extensive tree clearing was undertaken in the path alignment, offset by significant landscape improvements and new tree planting.

Management and protection of the environment was key feature of the project, completing the works adjacent to Lake Burley Griffin and undertaking non-destructive and mechanical excavation within the drip line of established trees. Despite long periods of inclement weather during construction, the works were delivered to high standard, without any safety, environmental or quality non-conformances
