Project Overview

The works incorporated the construction of a westbound intersection bypass lane on Pialligo Avenue, and upgrade of the signalised intersection at Scherger Drive, Pialligo ACT. Construction works included 600mm stormwater, multiple sumps with custom grated inlet structures, street lighting installation, new traffic signals, kerb and concreting works.

Features of the project included; Multi-phase traffic control, management of traffic detours, staged installation/decommissioning of traffic signals, detector loop installation, water main relocation, and identification and removal of asbestos containing material. During construction of the stormwater drainage, an uncharted water main was encountered. This main required diverting to allow the permanent works to be completed, involving close liaison with Icon Water and the client to design and install diversions and minimise supply disruptions.

Despite significant delays caused by the water main works, the overall project was a success, without out any safety, environmental or quality non-conformances.
